Lesson FAQ's

A Welcome Lesson is a one-time private lesson for riders who are new to Beverly Equestrian or new to riding. The lesson is $150, approximately 45 minutes, and includes a school horse fully tacked and untacked for you. The goal is to assess riding level, introduce horsemanship basics, and ensure a safe, positive first experience.

Riding is both physically and mentally demanding. Most riders begin to fatigue after about 30 minutes, especially when learning new skills. Our 45-minute format allows for focused instruction while prioritizing safety, effectiveness, and horse welfare.

While Beverly Equestrian operates in both Virginia and Florida, all school horse lessons are offered at our Virginia location only.

Welcome Lessons are typically offered:

• Weekdays (excluding Mondays): 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

• Weekends: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Scheduling is subject to horse and instructor availability.

Beverly Equestrian is a paperless program. Accepted payment methods include:

• Zelle (preferred): darrin@beverlyequestrian.com or @beverlyeq

• Venmo: @beverlyequestrian

• Online credit card payment via our website (convenience fee applies)

Credit cards are not accepted on-site.

• Lessons must be canceled at least 24 hours in advance to avoid forfeiture.

• Arrivals more than 20 minutes late may result in a shortened or canceled lesson.

• No-shows or late cancellations forfeit the lesson fee.

Yes. All riders must complete a waiver prior to arrival:

• Address: 7120 Beverly Lane, The Plains, VA

• Access Beverly Lane via Zulla Road only (no access from Milestone Road).

• Upon arrival, enter the main aisle and wait in the lounge.

• Please note: dogs are not permitted.

After your Welcome Lesson, riders may purchase:

• Private lessons (single lessons or packages)

• Group lesson packages (for riders who meet minimum skill requirements)

Lesson packages expire one year from purchase and do not need to be used consecutively.

All ongoing lessons are scheduled using the Beverly Google Calendar system.

Scheduling steps:

1. You will be granted access to the shared Beverly lesson calendar

2. You will create your own lesson event

3. The event must be placed on the Beverly calendar (not a personal calendar)

4. The lesson is considered confirmed once visible on the Beverly calendar

⚠️ Under Calendar, make sure to select “beverlyeq@gmail.com” This ensures your appointment is added to the shared calendar and not just your personal one.

The distinction is based on how the lesson is scheduled, not how many riders attend.

• Private Lesson: You reserve a specific time slot with an instructor. Ideal for focused instruction or scheduling flexibility.

• Group Lesson: You join a lesson during a designated group time. Group lessons require minimum skill eligibility.

If additional riders join a privately scheduled lesson, the rate typically remains unchanged.

WhatsApp and SMS are used for general program communication, not individual scheduling changes.

We cannot guarantee the same horse each time. Horses are assigned based on rider ability, size, and availability to ensure safety and appropriate matches.

To protect the long-term health and soundness of our school horses, jumping in lessons is limited to 2’. Riders wishing to jump higher are encouraged to explore half-lease or full-lease options.

Payment Information As a small, horse-focused business, we traditionally operate as a cash-based program. However, to stay flexible and accommodate the needs of our wonderful clients, we offer a variety of ways to pay, including a credit card on this website. All services available for purchase on this website include a credit card convenience fee. If you prefer to avoid this fee, you are welcome to pay by electronic cash methods (Zelle) and access the cash price provided with the service or on the shopping cart page.
