🏆 Fall Classic Jumper Schedule: Built for the Amateur

3 min read

The Fall Classic jumper schedule is built around a rider we know well: the amateur who wants a real competition weekend.

At the Beverly Fall Classic, the jumper program runs from Cross Rails through 1.25m, with the Grand Prix Ring dedicated to jumpers both Saturday and Sunday.

And this year, we have built the schedule with a clear progression through the levels.

Start Where You Are

For some riders, that starts at Cross Rails.

Our newest jumper competitors will have a Cross Rails class on Saturday, followed Sunday by an optional Blue Ribbon round and the new Cross Rails Jumper Classic.

Because your first Classic should feel like one.

From there, the schedule moves through .65m, .80m, .90m, 1.00m, 1.10m, 1.15m and 1.20m, with Open and Junior/Amateur opportunities built throughout the weekend.

Championships You Actually Have to Earn

For the Junior/Amateur rider, we wanted the weekend to have an arc.

That means multiple classes within the eligible sections, with Champion and Reserve Champion awarded on accumulated points where the section meets the championship requirements.

You aren't coming for one round and going home. Saturday matters. Sunday matters. And consistency over the weekend matters.

The championship path runs through the amateur levels, while the 1.15m offering stands on its own without a championship. At 1.10m, the weekend builds toward the $1,500 NAL/WIHS Junior/Amateur Classic at 1.15m; at 1.20m, it builds toward Sunday's $2,500 NAL Junior/Amateur Classic at 1.25m.

The Classics Climb With You

Sunday is Classic day, and the ladder is intentional.

It starts with the Cross Rails Jumper Classic and continues through the lower levels, including the new .85m Junior/Amateur Classic, offered for ribbons.

Then the prize money builds:

$500 .65m Junior/Amateur Classic · $750 .95m Junior/Amateur Classic · $950 1.05m Junior/Amateur Classic · $1,500 NAL/WIHS 1.15m Junior/Amateur Classic · $2,500 NAL 1.25m Junior/Amateur Classic.

Different heights. Different stages of a rider's program. The same idea: there should be something at the end of the weekend worth riding toward.

Warm Up—or Go for the Clock

Not every round needs to do the same job.

That is why the schedule also gives riders choices throughout the height progression. Blue Ribbon clear rounds offer an opportunity to get into the ring without the clock deciding the result. Open speed classes give riders who want to compete against the clock another option.

So you can use the weekend differently depending on the horse.

  • Need a confidence-building trip? Take the Blue Ribbon round.

  • Want another competitive round? Enter the Open.

  • Chasing the Junior/Amateur championship? Stay focused on the classes in your section.

It is a small distinction on a schedule. It can make a very big difference in how you plan a horse's weekend.

And There Is More Than One Way to Play

The Fall Classic also includes Thoroughbred Jumper classes, culminating in Sunday's $850 Take2 Thoroughbred Classic at 1.00m, plus Young Jumper opportunities at 1.10m and 1.20m.

And Saturday afternoon brings a different kind of test: the $2,500 Beverly Speed Stake at 1.20m, not before 2:00 PM.

Fast horse? This one's for you.

Two Days. A Lot to Ride For.

That is really what we wanted from this schedule.

You can bring the developing jumper that needs mileage. You can bring the amateur horse that needs a championship division. You can bring the rider ready for a first Cross Rails Classic or the pair aiming at Sunday's 1.25m NAL Classic.

You can school. You can go fast. You can chase a championship. You can ride for a Classic.

And you can do it all in one Saturday-and-Sunday weekend at Beverly.
