December has brought a flurry of activity for Beverly Equestrian as we transition from a period of rest in Virginia to gearing up for an exciting season in Florida. The dedicated grooms have played a pivotal role in safely trailering the horses to their new homes, opening the jumper and polo barns, and ensuring a smooth settling-in process as the athletes prepare for the upcoming competitions.
Jumpers in the Ring, Hunters Ready to Roll
In the world of jumpers, the spotlight shines on Little Gun 17 and Dominator Touch Z, both settled in their Wellington barn. These talented jumpers showcased their skill in leg stretchers during Holiday II at Wellington International. We expect solid rounds at their respective levels in the Wellington International Holiday Finale this week. Additionally, Beverly’s Bebop has been schooling and is set to impress with some hunter schooling rounds this week.
Looking ahead, the excitement intensifies with the imminent start of the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF). The kick-off begins next week with WEF Premiere, promising fun and spirited competition.
Polo Ramping Up
Meanwhile, the polo ponies have been doing sets to condition over the past few weeks. They will transition to singling with players this week. The team is gearing up for their first practices within the next 10 days.
The 12-goal season is set to commence in mid-January, featuring the formidable Beverly Equestrian team consisting of Wil Ballhaus (0), Lizzie Keys (0), Lucio O’Campo (5), and Tolito O’Campo (7) at Port Mayaca Polo.
Wellington Excitement
As the riders, horses, and polo ponies prepare for the season ahead, Wellington is abuzz with the energy and anticipation that mark the beginning of another season. Stay tuned for updates as the action unfolds!
