One of the goals of the Beverly Summer Show Series has always been to make competition more enjoyable, more convenient, and more accessible—without sacrificing the quality of the experience.
Beginning this summer, we're excited to introduce another improvement designed specifically for riders taking their first steps into the show ring: Classes 50, 51, and 52—our Poles, Cross Rails, and Small Verticals trio—will now be held in the indoor arena.

For many riders and horses, these classes represent an important milestone. Whether it's a young horse gaining experience, a lesson rider entering their first competition, or a partnership building confidence together, the environment matters.
By moving these classes indoors, competitors will enjoy:
A smaller, more contained competition arena.
A predictable environment that helps horses and riders focus on learning.
A dedicated ring (except due to weather-related adjustments to the outdoor competition schedule).
The same professional atmosphere that makes Beverly's shows such a valuable educational experience.
This dedicated space allows our introductory competitors to enjoy a calm and consistent setting while our hunter and jumper divisions continue in their respective competition arenas.

When Will These Classes Run?
Our hunter divisions begin at 8:30 AMÂ in the Wofford Ring and continue until all hunter classes have concluded.
The indoor introductory jumper trio (Classes 50–52) will begin immediately after the hunter divisions finish.
Because the length of the hunter schedule depends on entries, we are not able to publish an exact start time in advance. We know this can make planning your day more difficult, and we appreciate your understanding.
Many have asked why we can't simply run these classes as a third competition ring. The answer is that we're already operating two full competition rings throughout the day, and adding a third staffed competition ring is beyond what our local series can reasonably support.
To make these classes possible, we have already invested in building and maintaining a third complete course for the indoor arena in addition to our full hunter and jumper courses. We are happy to make that capital investment because we believe these introductory classes are an important part of developing riders and horses.
What we cannot sustainably add is the staffing required to operate a third ring simultaneously. Running another competition ring would require an additional judge, in-gate personnel, jump crew, and other support staff throughout the day. Instead, we use the existing hunter team to transition to the indoor arena once the hunter divisions conclude, allowing us to continue offering these classes while keeping the series affordable and sustainable.
We appreciate everyone's patience as we work to include these introductory classes in what is already a full competition day.

A Note for Trainers
Because of the day's schedule, the indoor introductory classes cannot interrupt the jumper schedule.
We understand that many riders competing in the 18-inch Small Verticals would also like to move up and compete in the 2' division later the same day. Unfortunately, depending on how the hunter and jumper schedules unfold, that may not always be possible.
When planning entries, we encourage trainers to recognize that riders wishing to compete in both the introductory indoor classes and the larger outdoor jumper divisions may encounter scheduling conflicts.
While we'll do everything we reasonably can to keep the day moving efficiently, we cannot delay or interrupt either competition ring to accommodate cross entries.
Thank you for your understanding and your continued support as we expand opportunities for developing riders while maintaining a high-quality competition experience for everyone.
