Spring 1 marks the transition from winter schooling shows to spring preparation as riders begin preparing for the Beverly Spring Classic and their first rated competition.

With Spring 1 arriving on March 14, the Beverly calendar officially turns the corner from preparation to participation.
Winter at Beverly is where riders build the foundation — position, rhythm, confidence, and familiarity with the show environment. As we discussed in our Winter 3 post about why winter schooling shows matter, those months are designed to give riders the time and space to practice.
Spring is where those foundations begin to translate into consistent show rounds and competitive progress.
This is not a reset.
It is the next step in the same pathway.

The Beverly Season Follows a Simple Arc
Each phase of the Beverly calendar serves a distinct purpose in the rider development process:
❄️ Winter Series — Practice. Riders develop the fundamentals, build confidence, and gain familiarity with the show environment.
🌱 Spring Series — Prepare. Riders begin converting those skills into consistent rounds, competitive mileage, and division readiness.
🏆 Spring Classic — Premiere. Riders step forward into rated competition or confirm the next stage of their showing pathway.
Spring 1 marks the moment where the program shifts from practice to preparation.
Two Lanes, One Structure
The Spring Series continues the structure riders experienced throughout winter while opening the door to the next level of opportunity.
The pathway now becomes clearer.

🟦 Lane One: Continue Local
Many riders will continue competing within the VHSA Associate structure throughout the Spring Series.
This provides:
Continued mileage in familiar divisions
Opportunities to refine consistency
A supportive competitive environment
For many riders, this is exactly the right path — building confidence through repetition and thoughtful progression.
The Spring Series is designed to fully support that lane.

🏆 Lane Two: Prepare for Rated
For riders ready to stretch further, the Spring Series becomes the preparation phase for rated competition.
These shows allow riders to:
Fine-tune their rounds
Confirm their divisions and heights
Build confidence before stepping into rated company
The transition is intentional.
There is no sudden leap — only progressive steps toward the next level.
Why Spring 1 Matters
Spring 1 begins the preparation phase of the season.
It is where riders begin confirming:
Division readiness
Competitive consistency
Show-day confidence
Each round now becomes a meaningful step toward the opportunities ahead.

Looking Ahead
The Spring Series leads directly into the Beverly Spring Classic on May 23–24, our first USEF-rated hunter and jumper competition.
Between now and then, riders have the opportunity to:
Refine their rounds
Build competitive mileage
Decide what their next step will be
For some, that next step will be continued local competition.
For others, it will be stepping forward into rated showing for the first time.
Both paths are intentional.
Both are part of the Beverly pathway.
And they both begin with Spring 1 — the moment where practice turns into preparation.
